History of School

This school was established in 1926 as a primary school. The enlightened people of the area have made a significant contribution to the operation and progress of the school. In 1999 this school was upgraded to High school. During this period Shri Jitendra Kumar who completed his studies at this school, rose to the rank of Captain in Indian Army and was martyred while fighting terrorists at Lal Chowk in Srinagar during Kargil war. When the school was formally inaugurated the Government of Himachal Pradesh as a true tribute to the martyr Jitendra Kumar named the school Shaheed Jitendra Memorial Government High School Sohari. In 2011 the school was upgraded to a Government Senior Secondary School. In 2025 the school is selected for CBSE affiliation and in 2026 the school has been affiliated for CBSE and the classes for CBSE will be started from April 2026
